Visitor Visa

Visitor visa also known as A Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), is an official document issued by a Canadian visa office to a foreign national who has successfully met all the requirements. Unless you are from a Visa-Exempt country, a Visitor Visa is required to enter Canada even if you are coming for a short visit as a visitor or as an International student or a temporary worker.

There are two types of Visitor visas:

  • Single entry
  • Multiple entry

A Single entry visa allows holders to enter Canada for a single visit only whereas Multiple entry visa allows holders to enter and leave Canada for multiple times as long as visitor visa holds validity. A foreign national can live in Canada for up to six months at a time. If you are planning to stay longer, you should apply for an extension of visa at least 30 days before its gets expired.

To be eligible to apply for Visitor Visa, applicant must be :

  • Holding a valid travel document
  • Medically admissible
  • Able to financially support themselves in Canada
  • Not inadmissible on any criminal grounds
  • Having strong ties to your home country to convince an immigration officer that you will go back once your status expires.
